I had a giant problem<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Such a tangle, and a mess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Big, and dark, and ugly<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And it scared me, I confess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I could not defeat it<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Even though I surely tried.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It just loomed up bigger<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Until I was terrified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was feeding off me<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And it stuck to me like glue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Overwhelming me with fear –<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And what was I to do?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yet I knew of Someone<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A great Warrior and King.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He had said to call on Him<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To help with anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But I was scared to call Him<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For I did not want to show<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just how big my problem was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He shouldn’t have to know!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I should handle this myself <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And I could not confess<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That I couldn’t conquer it<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And get out of this mess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So I kept on fighting it<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Until I felt so weak<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I couldn’t lift a finger<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And my tongue could hardly speak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That was when I heard Him knocking<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Asking to come in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Still I didn’t want to show<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My weakness or my sin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He would see my foolishness<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My darkness, and my woe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He would see the ugliness<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I didn’t want to show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But my heart was failing<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And I longed to hear His voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So, with heavy heart and hand<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I slowly made my choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There He was, so kindly<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Standing right outside my door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Smiling so sweetly<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As He often had before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Full of shame, I let Him in<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And saw within His light<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All the tangles of my mess\u2013<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A horrid, nasty sight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yet He didn’t censure me<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But called me to His side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Calling me to open up<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The things I wished to hide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I felt oh, so vulnerable <\/p>\n\n\n\n
So naked in His sight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wretched, poor, and miserable<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And blind within His light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But there He was, so gentle<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With His everlasting love<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Deeper, dearer, lovelier <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Than I’d been dreaming of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So I fell into His arms<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And opened up my heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Letting Him inside of it<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To give Him every part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Though it was not easy<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What a healing I could feel!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pouring out my heart to Him<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And finally being real.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When I’d given everything<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He smiled down at me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Do not fear, my little one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I came to set you free.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then I saw that He was armed <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Royal Knight so brave. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He had come with sword in hand<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To fight for me, and save.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Turning now to face that thing<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The mess of fears and doubts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stood up against it<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With a weapon and a shout!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was far more powerful <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Than all that held me down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He could cast the strong man out<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And cut the cords that bound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As I let Him fight the foe<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And fought it with Him, too<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I saw that problem turn to dust\u2013<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Defeated, through and through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then I saw the truth of it<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That He, my faithful Friend <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Could handle any problem <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He could conquer, and defend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He could overcome my faults and failures<\/p> With His grace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He could give me courage <\/p>\n\n\n\n In His kind, redeeming face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Now I know the victory <\/p>\n\n\n\n Is not in being strong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Not in hiding weaknesses<\/p>\n\n\n\n Or striving hard and long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It is in surrender;<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the trusting of my King.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Drawing near to know Him<\/p>\n\n\n\n And to open everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Now, when I have problems<\/p>\n\n\n\n I can let my Friend inside<\/p>\n\n\n\n Knowing He can help me<\/p>\n\n\n\n Even with the fears I hide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Now, when I have problems<\/p>\n\n\n\n I can seek my Royal Knight<\/p>\n\n\n\n For I know He will rescue me<\/p>\n\n\n\n And He can win this fight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Written 8\/6\/22<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" I had a giant problem Such a tangle, and a mess.
