{"id":2904,"date":"2025-07-11T12:57:53","date_gmt":"2025-07-11T11:57:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/allegrawordweaver.com\/?p=2904"},"modified":"2025-07-11T12:57:54","modified_gmt":"2025-07-11T11:57:54","slug":"the-guide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/allegrawordweaver.com\/index.php\/the-guide\/poetry\/","title":{"rendered":"The Guide"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Tall stone walls rise all around\u2013I\u2019m in a massive maze<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where to turn, which path to take?&nbsp; There are so many ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If I take a step that\u2019s wrong, I\u2019ll fall in a trap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I know them\u2013they are numerous. I\u2019ve seen them in my map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then there are the lurking foes, the monsters and the men.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I fear lest I should see one coming at me \u2018round the bend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I know I should be somewhere else\u2013this place does not look right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But how to get back on the track? There\u2019s no clear path in sight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And I could get in trouble if I simply linger here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I need to get to somewhere fast\u2013I feel a mounting fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ask the Guide. I know I should. But I\u2019m in such a state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m too anxious, I\u2019m too scared, to ask in faith and wait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And so I run down one path\u2013then double back in doubt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It seems that each might lead to ruin\u2013where is the way out?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I try to climb the walls to see, but they are much too high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m stuck on ground, with tunnel vision. I can\u2019t even fly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What if I make one wrong move? So then I simply freeze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Too scared one step could be my last. Too scared to even sneeze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then I think, if I could dig, I might get through these walls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And so I dig and dig and dig\u2026with no progress at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I know the general destination\u2013how do I get there?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I just get tired, sore, and hot, and heading toward despair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally I give it up. I sigh and sit and stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I look up at the bright blue sky. \u201cPlease help,\u201d I softly say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And then I sense him there with me, the good and gentle Guide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Firm hand upon my shoulder, and His presence at my side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He doesn\u2019t say a word at first; His hand is warm and strong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally He says, \u201cWhy are you worried? What is wrong?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Did you not hear Me calling you? Why did you run in fear?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I wanted you to stay by me, instead of running here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I thought about my motives, and what had been my aim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI tried so hard to get it right,\u201d I muttered now in shame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019d just had a fear of guilt, concern with just myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Blinded, I\u2019d left love behind, and put faith on a shelf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trying just to save my skin, and keep myself from pain,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I had left the peaceful zone, and run away again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now the Guide had found me, and He soothed my foolish terror.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He spoke with words of reason, and explained to me my error.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou need my guidance always, or you cannot find the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You should focus less on trying\u2013more on what I say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not about self-righteousness; it\u2019s more than being right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You won\u2019t get out by your own ways\u2013I\u2019ll get you out <em>in spite<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trust Me with your heart of hearts, and listen to My voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow My directions truly\u2013make that your first choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m the only One who sees this maze from overhead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I know which are wrong paths, and which ones to take instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I can see the labyrinth\u2019s start, and I can see its end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I know all the secret trails, and what lies \u2018round the bend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I will show you lovely paths, decked out with light and flower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I will keep you safe from traps, protect you with my power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I will lead your footsteps, if you\u2019ll simply pause to hear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I will guide you safely home, if you will let me steer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do not fear the shadows, and don\u2019t choose the gloomy trails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep my promises in heart, and trust they cannot fail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I will not leave you in here\u2013I won\u2019t abandon you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I follow through with what I say, and finish what I do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do not think I\u2019m far away\u2013I\u2019m always very near.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Put those anxious thoughts away, and silence all that fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On My honor I will help\u2013I\u2019ll stay right by your side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ll give you sharper eyes to see, if you in Me abide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you heed My guidance, you will not fall into traps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I can give you words of counsel, and explain your map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you make it out of here, you\u2019ll owe it to your Guide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not that you were always right, or that you tried and tried.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I let that sink into my mind, and start to understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I smile at my Guide, and then He takes me by the hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNow, let\u2019s go,\u201d He says. \u201cLook there, a door is in that wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If I were not with you, you could not get through at all.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then I see the very path that I am looking for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally I\u2019m back on track as we go through the door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anxious clamors die away, and I feel peace inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am not alone in this\u2013I have a kindly Guide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He can get me safely out. I know and trust He will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And now I know to listen more\u2013be humble and be still.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m not right, but that\u2019s okay. I trust in One who is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And I can walk in confidence, when my hand\u2019s placed in His.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He will lead me step by step throughout this winding maze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And I will see His perfect plan, when we get out someday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:89px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Trust in the Lord with all your heart,<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>And lean not on your own understanding;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>In all your ways acknowledge Him,<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>And He shall direct your paths.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Proverbs 3:5-6<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tall stone walls rise all around\u2013I\u2019m in a massive maze Where to turn, which path to take?&nbsp; There are so many ways.
